Arellano University International Nursing Program (AU-INP) began conducting limited face-to-face classes among its nursing students last March 28, 2022, following the guidelines given by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Inter-Agency Task Force. After almost two years of a purely virtual learning environment, AU-INP students have finally completed their clinical check-offs and participated in the simulations using high-fidelity mannequins at AU’s retrofitted facilities. To complete the clinical experience, the students have also started with their hospital rotations at the affiliate institutions, Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center and Makati Medical Center.

The resumption of the limited face-to-face classes was made possible by the collaborative effort of the Crisis Management Committee headed by Mr. Francisco P.V. Cayco, Chairman and CEO, Arellano University, and with the strict guidance of Dr. Jhason John Cabigon, Director, Office of the Occupational Safety & Health Standards.

Also, Dr. Maria Teresa N. Rivera, Ed.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Mr. Mario F. Sales, Vice President for International Programs helped strengthen the undertakings involved in this vital step for students gradually returning to school.

AU-INP also worked closely with the Allied Health Services of AU Legarda Campus, in cooperation with Dr. Bernard Ebuen, M.A. Ed, Department Chair, College of Medical Laboratory Science, and Mrs. Leonora P. Borromeo, M.A.N., Department Chair, College of Nursing. Moreover, the painstaking supervision of the INP Director, Dr. Emerita Mendoza, R.N., M.A.N, resulted to the overall success of the limited face-to-face classes of AU-INP.

With the continuous decline of COVID-19 cases, AU-INP resumes full clinical rotations at different affiliated hospitals during the subsequent year, while ensuring that quality and safety are integrated during the face-to-face skills performance of the students.
